About Dullstroom

Dullstroom, located in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is a charming village known for its cool, misty climate, scenic landscapes, and trout fishing. Established in 1883 by Dutch settlers, the town was named after Wolterus Dull, a Dutch merchant who helped fund the settlement. Initially, it served as a refuge for Dutch immigrants seeking a peaceful life away from political unrest in Europe.

During the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902), Dullstroom was heavily affected, with much of the town being destroyed by British forces. After the war, it slowly rebuilt itself, growing into a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility.

Today, Dullstroom is renowned for its fly-fishing, hiking trails, and nature reserves. It’s also a hub for arts, crafts, and fine dining, offering a mix of historical charm and modern tourism. The town’s Highland Gate Golf Estate and the Dullstroom Bird of Prey & Rehabilitation Centre are notable attractions.
